Assam’s lifeline, the mighty Brahmaputra, could be turning into a threat to life along the river that it supported all along. Its waters are muddy and black. This what the information is currently coming up. It also caused a danger to the Brahmaputra river due to China. Now the whole river became black and muddy. This is because the Siang River in China. It come from Tibetan Plateau and joins with Brahmaputra River in Assam, which is the border state of China. Extremely severe pollution comes in the Brahmaputra river. All the pollutants in the Siang river in China come to the Brahmaputra. This led to pure water into dirty substrates. Recently, the water in the Siang river was tested and test result showed 1249 Neptilimetric turbidity unit (NTU). Usually in the river waters until NTU 5 is safe. Accordingly, it is 250 times higher in the Siang River.

After Lok Sabha members on Tuesday expressed concern over the Brahmaputra river being polluted by China, parliamentary affairs minister Ananth Kumar assured the House that he will take up the issue at the “highest level” in the government.
Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu and his Assam counterpart Sarbananda Sonowal have also raised the issue with the central government.
