Google X ready to set up Development Centre in Visakhapatnam
The US-based Google X company is going to set up a development center at Visakhapatnam for the first time. The company is developing the technology that allows internet access through the air bubbles without cable system and Driverless Waymo cars. State IT Minister Nara Lokesh visited the office in San Francisco as part of the American tour. In the company he held talks with CEO Astro Teller.
A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between Government of Andhra Pradesh and Google X in San Francisco, USA in this regard. Teller signed a contract with state IT officials on this occasion. Lokesh toured in Waymo car. “With the arrival of this institution, there will be revolutionary changes in information technology in the state. As part of the agreement, the company will set up 2,000 free space optical communication links in the state. Mobile data and WiFi services are available without the need of fiber cable. The second phase of fiber grid program we aims to set up 59,000 km underground cable network. For this we use Google X Links,” Lokesh said.
Astro Teller said that they are going to connect the villages of Andhra Pradesh through their links. Afterwards, the Lokesh team visited the Franklin Templeton office. Lokesh meeting with Executive Vice President Alok Sethi, Senior Vice President Joe Boreo. We will lay the foundation stone next month in Visakhapatnam, “the company spokesperson said.
