Kamal Haasan, Shankar to reunite for ‘Indian 2’
‘Indian’ is coming back. Actor Kamal Haasan and filmmaker Shankar are all set to reunite for ‘Indian 2’ movie. The film, to be bankrolled by Dil Raju, will be made in Tamil and Telugu. But there’s a hot topic here that comes with is about the story. Kamal Haasan is the hero of Shankar’s Tamil film ‘Indian’ Telugu version ‘Bharateeyudu’ which released in 1996 highly successful and celebrated movie. In the film, Kamal Haasan played a dual role — as a 70-year-old freedom fighter-turned-vigilante against corruption and his son who ends up bending the rules. The film became a classic when a freedom fighter who had fought against corruption. Now Kamal and director Shankar are trying hard to get a sequel to it.
“An official announcement is expected to be made today (Saturday). They are joining hands for Indian 2 It will go on the floors next year,” a source close to producer Raju told.
Kamal Haasan is going to produce the sequel (Indian-2) in the direction of Shankar along with famous Telugu producer Dil Raju Srikkateswara Creations. “We are going to create this sequel in Telugu-Tamil and other languages with high technical values, synchronized social issues. ‘Bhartiyudu’ is a film that will be extinguished. The shooting starts soon after Rajinikanth’s ‘2.0’ is completed. We will reveal the details soon, “said Dil Raju.
Indian, which had music by A.R Rahman, was released in Telugu as Bharatheeyudu and in Hindi as Hindustani. Also starring Manisha Koirala and Urmila Matondkar, the film bagged three National awards including the best actor honour for Haasan.
Rumours are rife that Indian 2 could be Haasan’s last film before he takes the political plunge.
