Nanded Municipal Corporation Election results 2017: Congress wins 30 seats, BJP staring at defeat
The results of the crucial 81-seat Nanded-Waghala Municipal Corporation (NWMC) will be announced today. As Polling was held on Wednesday, Nanded Waghala municipality which recorded 60 per cent voter turn out on Wednesday.Stakes are high for BJP, Congress and Shiv Sena. Especially election had at stake Chavan’s prestige in the area. But result is too different Congress Party has managed to retain its control in the Nanded municipality. The Congress on Thursday was firmly on way to re-capturing the Nanded-Waghala City Municipal Corporation (NWCMC), a stronghold of Maharashtra party chief Ashok Chavan, by bagging 30 of the 32 seats in the 81-seat body for which results had been announced by 3:PM.
Last time, A total of 578 candidates are in the poll fray. Out of the total 81 seats, the Congress had won 41 wards. Shiv Sena with 12 seats was a distant second, followed by the All India Majlis-e-Muslimeen with 11 seats. The BJP, on the other hand, had managed to secure just two seats. Out of 81 seats, 41 seats are reserved for women candidates, 15 seats for SC candidates, 2 for ST and 22 seats for Backward Class communities. Today result is totally favor to congress as it already won 30 seats.
The Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT) machines have been used for the first time in the state in these elections.
