Policy on methanol in petrol soon
The Central Government today announced the Methanal Policy. With this policy, 15 per cent of the methanol mixture will be added to the petrol. With this Petrol prices will come down and pollution can be avoided. Union Home Minister Nitin Gadkari said in the Lok Sabha today. Petrol price is Rs. 80, when compared to methanol produced from coal is just Rs. 22.
The Minister said that many factories around Mumbai, including Deepak Fertilizers and Rashtriya Chemicals and Fertilizers (RCF), could produce methanol. China is producing methanol just for Rs. 17. With this new policy, costs will be reduced and pollution will be reduced. Gadkari said 25 buses would be launched soon after the Swedish auto majors made a special engine run with Volvo Methanol. He also said ethanol usage should also be increased.
