Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams hikes price of extra laddus
Tirumala Sri Venkateswara Swamy Laddu prices doubled from Thursday onwards. Doubled price will be applicable for extra laddu’s that are provided based on recommendation letters, and quadrupled the prices of vadas. There is no change in the price offered by the temple to the pilgrims who visit normally. Swami Laddu Prasadam price has not been revised for the last ten years. As prices of raw materials increased, there was a huge difference in cost price and selling price. Laddu named as Kalyanotsavam weight about 750 grams. The price of this laddu has been raised from Rs 100 to Rs 200 on Thursday. The Manufacturing costs this laddu is upto Rs. 160.
Similarly, ordinary laddu weighs from 140 to 170 grams. This laddu price was raised from Rs. 25 to Rs. 50. This laddu manufacturing cost was also Rs. 40. The Manufacturing cost of Vada prices rose to Rs. 80. So far, it was sold for Rs. 25, from now it is sold of Rs. 100.
TTD gives 5 laddus for Devotees come by walk In which one is free, two for Rs 20 and another two for Rs 50. In total there are Rs. 70 for five laddus. The pilgrims are offered two ladders at the rate of Rs 20 and Rs 50 respectively. The VIP break visibility is offered free of charge to the devotees for the special entrance to the devotees.
With the cost of manufacturing and subsidies over laddu’s every year, the burden goes up to Rs 300 crore for TTD. TTD reviewed over the situation bearing such burden and giving extra laddu for same low cost is not fair, so they doubled the price for extra laddu’s. At the same time, it has decided to increase the manufacturing capacity to 4 lakh Laddu’s and sell at Rs. 50 for devotees.
On the first day of the implementation , about 50 thousand Laddu’s were sold. In the next four days, it is possible to sell more than one lakh Laddu’s. And TTD also planning to raise sales upto 5 lakh laddoos per day. The price hike is applicable to the sale counters in Hyderabad, Chennai, Bangalore and other cities.
